美國留學(xué)杜克大學(xué)商務(wù)基礎(chǔ)專業(yè)解析

最近遇見很多學(xué)生咨詢，考慮去美國讀商科研究生，一般學(xué)生選擇金融學(xué)專業(yè)，但是全美TOP30的院校里，有金融學(xué)專業(yè)的學(xué)校只有6所，去年哥大的繼續(xù)教育學(xué)院增設(shè)了企業(yè)風(fēng)險管理專業(yè)(M.S. Enterprise Risk Management)，即使如此，學(xué)生們可以選擇的學(xué)校也是很少，那么除了這些學(xué)校以外，還有什么學(xué)校的項目可以選擇呢，以下介紹一所著名的讀大學(xué)——杜克大學(xué)。

杜克大學(xué)沒有金融學(xué)專業(yè)，但是有商業(yè)基礎(chǔ)專業(yè)(MMS: Foundations of Business)，這個專業(yè)也是滿足大多數(shù)學(xué)商科學(xué)校的要求，可以作為申請學(xué)校之一。先來簡單介紹一下杜克大學(xué)。杜克大學(xué)是美國最優(yōu)秀的大學(xué)之一，且為美國南部最好的私立大學(xué)。該校長期排名美國前十，世界綜合大學(xué)第20的位置，商學(xué)院全美排名13、MBA全美第4。杜克大學(xué)的MMS專業(yè)為期10個月，項目的設(shè)置主要是為了學(xué)生就業(yè)設(shè)立，學(xué)校有專門的career center，為學(xué)生們就業(yè)服務(wù)，有3個faculty是專門來負(fù)責(zé)MMS項目的，幫助學(xué)生們制作簡歷，面試準(zhǔn)備，介紹校友等。學(xué)生們畢業(yè)后找工作基本上不成問題。

下面分為3部分來介紹MMS這個專業(yè)：課程設(shè)置、申請要求、項目費用。

一、課程情況

杜克大學(xué)的商業(yè)基礎(chǔ)專業(yè)設(shè)置在Fuqua商學(xué)院下面，該項目時長共計10個月，7月份開始到次年5月初結(jié)束。共分為5個term，每個term 6周時長，且每個term需要上3門課。具體課程見以下介紹。課程難度對于本身學(xué)金融的學(xué)生不算太難，對于學(xué)文科的學(xué)生來講，難度還是有的;此外，課程密集度很大，非常強調(diào)teamwork.

二、申請要求

申請截止日期：

申請截止共分為3輪，第一輪截止日期：2015.10.30(建議趕在第一輪截止日期前申請);第二輪：2016.1.29;第三輪：2016.3.1

申請材料：成績單、在讀證明/學(xué)位證畢業(yè)證、語言成績、GMAT/GRE,文書，資金證明等;

文書要求：1篇簡歷，2封推薦信，3個小問題，1-2篇essay

3個問題：

Why are you pursuing the MMS degree at this stage in your professional development? 為甚么選擇該項目?

What are your immediate career goals after completing the MMS program? 完成該項目后你當(dāng)下目標(biāo)是什么?

Life is full of uncertainties, and plans and circumstances can change. As a result, navigating a career requires you to be adaptable. Should the immediate goals that you provided above not materialize, what alternative directions have you considered? 生活充滿不確定性因素，計劃和環(huán)境隨時可能改變，那么，如果完成學(xué)業(yè)后你上述所提到的當(dāng)下目標(biāo)不能實現(xiàn)時，你考慮過其他的目標(biāo)方向嗎?

需要回答2篇essay

Required Essay 1 完成一份25個題目的表格，不能超過2頁，你的回答根據(jù)這25個隨機的問題可長可短。“25 Random Things About Yourself"是讓招生官了解你的個性，背景，特殊才能，天賦，能力。同時，申請人可以與招生官分享自己重要的人生經(jīng)歷、喜好、愛好、成就、有趣的故事后者其他幫助招生官了解自己的事情。

Instructions: Present your response in list form, numbered from 1 - 25. Some points may only be a few words, while others may be longer. Your complete list should not exceed 2 pages.

Question: The "Team Fuqua" spirit and community is one of the things that set the Fuqua experience apart, and it is a concept that extends beyond the student body to include faculty, staff, and administration. When a new person joins the Admissions Team, we ask that person to share with everyone in the office a list of "25 Random Things About Yourself." As an Admissions team, we already know the new hire's professional and academic background, so learning these "25 Random Things" helps us to get to know someone's personality, background, special talents, and more.

In this spirit, the Admissions Committee also wants to get to know you—beyond the professional and academic achievements listed in your resume and transcript. You can share with us important life experiences, your likes/dislikes, hobbies, achievements, fun facts, or anything that helps us understand what makes you who you are.

Required Essay 2 從以下題目里二選一，不能超過500個字。

Instructions: From the two options below, choose only one of the questions to answer. Your response to either essay question should be no more than 500 words, with a font size of no less than 10-point. Respond fully and concisely using 1.5 line spacing. Do not copy the essay question in the document you upload with your application.

Option 1 Question: Fuqua商學(xué)院給學(xué)生提供各種就業(yè)幫助，你如何利用這些資源來實現(xiàn)自己的職業(yè)目標(biāo)?(回答此問題時可以強調(diào)自己之前找工作或者實習(xí)的經(jīng)歷所用到的策略)

The motto of Fuqua’s Career Management Center is “Fueled by Fuqua, Driven by You.” There are many career resources available to students that can help you define your career path and manage your job search. Resources include industry and career focused clubs, the Duke Alumni network, individual career coaching sessions, corporate presentations, and more. How will you utilize the career resources available to you at Fuqua to achieve your career goals? You may wish to highlight strategies you have used in your previous internship and job searches as well.

Option 2 Question: 商業(yè)基礎(chǔ)這個項目學(xué)生背景多元化，各具特色，學(xué)生們可以將自身的優(yōu)勢價值帶到這個項目中。這樣學(xué)生們在這個項目中或項目外的社團活動中互相學(xué)習(xí)，那么，你如何融入到這個群里中，又是如何將你的背景及經(jīng)歷產(chǎn)生的價值影響到其他同學(xué)呢?(此問題要闡述清楚自己的優(yōu)勢是什么，價值是什么，能為這個項目帶來什么)

The MMS: FOB program is shaped each year by the diversity of the class. Students bring a unique combination of professional and personal experiences that add value to the learning environment. By engaging with each other, MMS: FOB students grow personally as well as professionally over the course of the program. The admissions team is looking for students who are eager to engage with, and learn from, one another both inside the classroom and through their involvement in extracurricular activities. How will you be engaged as a student (both in and out of the classroom), and how will your background and previous experiences add value to the experience of your fellow students?

Optional Essay 可選essay 非必須
